Thomas Andrews Obituary

Thomas Nicholas Andrews, 90, of Irwin, passed away Saturday, Feb. 3, 2024, in Walden's View of North Huntingdon, with his family by his side. He was born Jan. 18, 1934, in Pittsburgh, son of the late Nicholas and Anna (Xenos) Andrews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Emanuel and Harry Andrews; and sister, Sophia Andrews. He was a graduate of Westinghouse High School Class of 1955. He then went on to receive his bachelor's in electrical engineering from the University of Pittsburgh. Tom was proud to be an Army veteran, having served during the Korean Conflict. After completing his service, he went on to work in the U.S. Space Program at Martin Marietta and then to Westinghouse Electric. Following that, he went out on his own to start a number of entrepreneurial ventures including a robotics company and other engineering-related businesses. Tom's entrepreneurial efforts continued into real estate with Tom leading development of a number of local retail real estate projects. He was a member of St. Michael's Orthodox Church, in Greensburg. Tom was an avid tennis player, enjoyed playing cards with his friends, golfing and traveling to the beach, where he loved to ride his bicycle on the beach. His family meant the world to him, especially his grandkids. He was their Papou and loved every moment shared with them. Tom is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Mary M. (Migias) Andrews; two sons, Mark T. (Joanne) Andrews, of North Carolina, and Eric T. (Melanie) Andrews, of New Jersey; daughter, Debbie (Herb) Stout, of Irwin; seven special grandchildren, Shayna (Anthony) Kostka, Erica (Sam) McArthur, Zane Stout, Thomas (Stephanie) Andrews, Mitchell Andrews, Luke Andrews and Lila Andrews; and two special great-granddaughters, Charlotte McArthur and Sadie Andrews. The family would like to thank the staff at Walden's View and Suncrest Hospice for all their love and compassionate care. He will be dearly missed by his family, friends and neighbors. He will forever be remembered for his love of family and country as well as his charismatic personality. Friends will be received from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 7, 2024, in St. Michael's Orthodox Church, 1182 Ashland St., Greensburg, at which time a funeral service will be celebrated at 11 a.m. in the church with Father David Hyatt as celebrant.
