Fred B. Burkett Jr.

Fred B. Burkett Jr. , 76, of New Stanton, unexpectedly passed away on Thursday, January 29, 2026, at his home. He was born September 3, 1949,  in Mt. Pleasant,  son of the late Fred B. Sr. and Dorothy (Ray) Burkett. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Joyce Kozieniak and two brothers, Edward Burkett and Spurgeon Burkett. 

Fred was a US Army veteran having served during Vietnam as a flight medic.  Prior to his retirement, he had worked for the US Postal Service for 35+ years. He was an avid golfer, and enjoyed watching all sports, especially NASCAR.  Fred was an amazing cook and loved grilling with his daughter. He also enjoyed fishing and hunting with his family.

Fred is survived by his two daughters, Cristie Burkett of North Versailles and Addie Burkett of Arizona ; two special grandsons, David Burkett Harmuth  and Alessandro Bracamonte; a brother, James (Gail) Burkett, of West Newton and numerous nieces and nephews; and great-nieces and great-nephews.  Fred will be dearly missed by his family, friends and neighbors. 

Friends will be received from 3  to  7p.m. Tuesday,   Feb. 3, 2026, at the Joseph W.  Nickels Funeral Home Inc. 404 Sewickley Ave., Herminie, PA  15637, at which time a funeral service will be held in the funeral home. Private military services will take place at the National  Cemetery of the Alleghenies , 1158 Morgan Road, Bridgeville, PA, 15017.
